The blind artist


  Edgar Degas – the great artist who was painting women and life, and who was the creator of bronze sculptures, in last period of his life went blind. By the time he died (1917, September) he was nearly blind. But he had never stopped working, it was his necessary part of life.

  1. It reminds me of the passion with which Beethoven continued to compose even though he was completely deaf…It is thanks to these artists that we truly understand the spirit of a true artist!

    • I agree with you. But I believe there won’t be any bigger disaster then going blind when you’re a painter and going deaf when you compose music. These are really horrible for all humans, but for artists – more.
